 In the Studio

The paintings seen here are examples of my most recent work. I use water based acrylic paints which are mixed on a large palette on the floor. I apply the paint to the canvas with a variety of artist's and decorator's brushes including flat and pointed bristles with long or short handles,  I also use sponges, palette knives, blocks of wood, rags or even my fingers  Whereas before I often painted on the floor with the canvas stapled to the flooring, I recently have stretched the canvas onto home made stretchers before painting. This allows me to develop the painting as it hangs on the wall and has the advantage that I can view it from a distance while it progresses. Wooden frames are sometimes added before the paintings leave my studio.
